What started as a discussion among a group of friends on the dining table has now positively touched the lives of over 10,000 people in need.
HOPE Jackets are not just warm jackets for winters, they are a portable raincoat and a sleeping bag for those who can’t afford a roof over their heads. This is the journey of Jaivir Gulati who is turning his vision of kindness into reality with the help of his friends & family, through Fabrecreate. Fabrecreate’s journey began in 2023 when a group of friends were dining at their school’s mess and watching TV. Disturbing pictures of kids displaced, orphaned, flashed on the screen made them privy to the cruel reality of the world. The leader of the pack, Jaivir Gulati , a then 10th grade student, decided that he had to act, and thus Fabrecreate was born.
The textile industry in India alone leaves behind over 92 million tons of waste, which is a scathing reason behind landfills and pollution as well. With a family background in manufacturing and fashion, Jaivir’s idea was to start utilizing this surplus fabric waste from apparel manufacturing to make a product that provided warmth and sleeping cushion for shelter-less and homeless people and kids. This is how the HOPE JACKET was thought about and what kick-started the journey of Fabrecreate. Know more about Fabrecreate by clicking here
HOPE Jacket is a multi-purpose jacket that can be turned into a raincoat and a sleeping bag as well. Fabrecreate uses fabric waste from factories to repurpose it to make the jacket, promoting sustainability. They also employ local underprivileged women to stitch these jackets, providing them with employment and a skill set to be independent. The jackets are distributed in areas suffering from homelessness and to children who have no support system with them. The material used in HOPE jackets is primarily Nylon, Polyester, Cotton Flannel and Acrylic, which ensures warmth and strength of the cloth. Jaivir and his team solves the three essential concerns with Fabrecreate- in the environmental, social and economical context.
Jaivir Gulati’s journey of creating Fabrecreate stemmed from a simple but powerful belief: the world needs more kindness. Recognizing that many individuals face challenges that go beyond material needs, Jaivir founded Fabrecreate as an initiative to offer not just help, but hope (through HOPE Jackets) . Rooted in the values of compassion, his organization is a beacon for those who feel forgotten by society.
One of the organization’s key programs is its skill-building workshops, designed to empower women with the tools they need to achieve long-term financial independence. These workshops, along with career counseling and mentorship, offer women to come out of the cycle of crisis. By focusing on self-sufficiency and resilience, Fabrecreate fosters a sense of ownership and dignity in them. Jaivir shares that all the jacket making work takes place in their Sourcing stations in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and other parts of Northern India. The team of dedicated volunteers, ambassadors and managing folks carry these jackets to the required areas for distribution, where the smile on children’s faces is proof enough for Fabrecreate’s success!
Jaivir & Fabrecreate’s commitment to kindness is not just about addressing immediate needs but about inspiring a movement of people who believe in the power of giving—whether it’s their time, their resources, or simply their hearts. Through his work, Fabrecreate has become a symbol of what’s possible when communities come together to support one another and how change takes place slowly but surely for everyone!
Fabrecreate is distributing over 250 HOPE Jackets to our partner NGOs at aidbees in Kashmir, Rajasthan & Delhi. We are super excited for the journey that awaits Jaivir & his visionary mission of Fabrecreate- providing warmth to those who need it the most!
Fabrecreate plans to expand their operations in many more cities by citing partnerships and also opening sourcing stations. They plan to induct young ambassadors who will carry the mission forward for the organisation, writing the next chapter of kindness!
In a world that often forgets the power of empathy, Fabrecreate is a powerful reminder that kindness can heal, uplift, and inspire. Jaivir’s journey proves that when we extend compassion, we can transform lives and change the world for the better.
All it takes to transform the world is ONE act of kindness, and Jaivir did exactly that to spread warmth, kindness and HOPE for many!
