Ways to Improve the Quality of Life for the Elderly

Ageing doesn’t just affect the elderly it affects the whole population in one way or the other. The ageing of the population is an inevitable and irreversible reality. Our efforts in improving the medical and nutrition sector have over the years ensured a low fatality rate in the country. The ageing population in India has increased from 77 million in 2001 to around 104 million in 2011 and is predicted to grow thrice as much by 2050 touching 300 million people which accounts for 20% of the entire population of the country.

Both the civil society and the Government of India will need to work hand in hand to supply a contented and stable environment for the elderly. We need to be adequately equipped to handle this growing senior population. Families will need to start considering not only financial backing but also psychological support for the elderly who suffer from issues of loneliness and deprivation more than any other.

Let us come together to work with our partners to make this possible with various organizations working for the betterment of the elderly.
