Let It Go

‘Let it go’ as the name suggests is all about forgetting about the past and its miseries, letting go of nostalgia. 

“This is the mindset that we want to spread across the world, first we started from our class, then our school and now we are putting all our efforts in spreading this across Ahmedabad!” This is what the students of Riverside School, Ahmedabad have to say about their Happiness Program.

The ‘Let It Go’ mindset is what many people need to overcome the depression monster.

“While there are many social issues in the world, to us the most relevant was ‘Mental Health’. 

Sanity, depression, stress and loneliness have all been considered as huge issues thanks to the Covid pandemic. According to data, over 600+ lockdown deaths have occurred due to severe depression, loneliness and financial stress in India itself.” The Riverside Grade 6 students took this as a challenge, they decided to come up with a program that allows them to collect ways to find happiness and bring smiles to families, communities and the world through these rough times.

“Instead of making people happy, we want to  educate people on ways they can spread happiness and find happiness in the simple joys of life.” This was the students’ vision for their program

To achieve this vision, we have put together a 21-day course called the “Daily Happiness Program”. It is a levelled course that lasts for 21 days. “The specific reason for a course of 21 days was to build a ‘habit’ and in Let it Go we call this the Happiness Habit!”

The course has 3 levels: 

  • Level 1 – Happy Today – The beginning 
  • Level 2 – Happy Tomorrow – On their way
  • Level 3 – Happy 4 Life – The habit is formed 

We are currently working on Level 2 and Level 3 programs but have curated an essential weekly calendar for happiness habits. 

Level 1 – Happy Today 

  • Magical Mondays  – A Happy Start!
    Things to do
    – Make a glass of lemonade for yourself with a custom recipe
    – Choose a diary and use it as your “ME Diary”
    – Call 3 people and tell them they are magical
    – Make a bucket list in your “ME Diary”
  • Truthful Tuesdays – Let us be honest to others and ourselves!
    Things to do
    – Be honest and list 8 things you love yourself
    – Write a note to 5 people and tell them if you have ever lied to them
  • Wacky Wednesdays – Let us be wacky!
    Things to do
    – Choose 6 random ingredients, try and make something out of it.
    – Select 4 different outfits and turn your house into a fashion ramp
    – Prank call your parents/friends from another device!
    – If you were an animal, which one would you be?
  • Thankful Thursdays – What are you thankful for?
    Things to do
    – List 2 things you are very grateful for having this week!
    – Call 5 of your friends or family members to who you are grateful!
    – Call your society or personal support staff and just say “Thank you” – Don’t be shy
    – Thank any 3 people and then tell those 3 to thank 3 more and so on. ( This is called the “thank you” repel effect)
  • Fun Fridays – It’s time for Fun!
    Things to do
    – Do a zoom meeting with all your friends!
    – Remove all your negativity and anger on your pillows 🙂
    – Search for the funniest jokes and then call people you haven’t spoken to in a while and tell them those jokes.
  • Selfless Saturdays – Lets me selfless and honour the people who have stood by us
    Things to do
    – List people who you think are living alone or are lonely, then call them up and make them smile
    – Take 5% of what you are eating and give it to someone who needs it!
    – Call 15 people and tell them they are ‘Amazing’!
  • Self-love Sundays -It is the end of the week and time to treat and honour ourselves for working hard and taking responsibilities
    Things to do
    – Call 5 of your relatives and ASK them for what you desire
    – Watch your favourite movie or order your favourite food
    – Tell your body, mind and heart “I Love you “
    – Plan your perfect vacation and then truly it is possible
    – Detox Dress Dance – The 3 magic words to end your week with a huge smile and never forget to Love yourself!
